Cam controllers execute the control function on the basis of the machine position or in a time-controlled manner. The function can be compared with the cam of a disc, whereby the switch-on and switch-off points for every outputs are determined according to the sections of the circle.

They are used wherever a quick and accurate control operation is essential depending on a fixed connection to the machine position, for example on packaging machines or glue application devices. The position is identified by a rotary encoder connected to the device.
