Safety Controls

Safety ControlsIn today's organization of industrial production, the "safety" aspect has become, and rightfully so, one of the fundamental aspects involved in managing a modern and efficient production line, capable of meeting market demands, satisfying legislation and staying ahead of the competition. Below we have listed an extract of the main international standards on the subject of safety, to which the products in this catalogue refer and by which the New Elfin philosophy has always been inspired.

UNI EN 1050
MACHINE SAFETY ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ON THE MACHINE

This standard is applied to the construction of electrical and electronic equipment and systems for non-portable machines. It provides
directives and recommendations in relation to the electric equipment of machines, to ensure the safety of people and objects, the
congruence of responses to commands and easy maintenance.

CEI EN 60204-1
SAFETY OF INTEGRATED PRODUCTION SYSTEMS

The aim of this standard is to indicate the safety requirements and guidelines for the design, construction, installation, programming,
operation, use and maintenance of integrated production systems. It describes the main dangers linked with these systems and the
procedures used to estimate the related risks and eliminate or reduce them to an acceptable level.

UNI ISO 11161
INDUSTRIAL MANIPULATING ROBOTS - SAFETY

The standard establishes the requirements for the robot and robotic systems. When a robot is used as part of a complex system it is
normally equipped with a tool or device and interacts with another piece of machinery.

UNI EN 775
FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS, MAIN DESIGN PRINCIPLES

The aim of this standard is to define the technical principles and specifications to help designers and constructors achieve safe conditions while designing machinery for professional and non-professional use. It may also be used for other technical products with similar risks and be of help in the preliminary assessment of the accident prevention aspect of machines.

UNI EN 292-
PARTS OF THE CONTROL SYSTEMS LINKED WITH SAFETY

This European standard establishes safety regulations and guidelines for designing parts of control systems linked with safety. It specifies the category of these parts and describes the features of their safety systems, including systems programmable for all machines and for their protection devices. It applies to all parts of control systems linked with safety.

UNI EN 954-1
TWO HAND CONTROL DEVICES - FUNCTIONAL ASPECTS - DESIGN PRINCIPLES

This standard specifies the safety requirements for a two-hand control device and for its logical unit. This standard describes the main features of two hand control devices for achieving safety and establishes the combinations of functional features for three types. This standard does not apply to devices destined for use as consent devices, such as maintained action controls and special control devices.

UNI EN 574
PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTAL START

This standard specifies the safety measures integrated in order to prevent the accidental start of the machine, enabling human intervention in danger zones. This standard applies to the accidental start of all types of power.

UNI EN 1037
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGN OF SIGNALS AND CONTROL DEVICES

This European standard contains instructions on the selection, design and location of signals to prevent potential ergonomic danger connected with their use. It specifies the ergonomic requirements and regards visual, audio and touch signals.

UNI EN 894-2
ERGONOMIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES

This standard establishes the ergonomic principles to follow during the work equipment design process, and that of the machine. This standard refers to the interaction between the operator and the work equipment during installation, use, regulation, maintenance, cleaning, repairs or transport, and highlights the principles to follow in order to completely safeguard the operator's health and safety.

UNI EN 614-1
SAFETY DISTANCES TO IMPEDE ACCESS TO DANGER ZONES WITH UPPER LIMBS

This standard establishes the values of the safety distances to prevent those aged three and over from reaching danger zones with their upper limbs. These distances apply when it is possible to achieve an adequate level of safety only by keeping clear of the machine. The safety distances protect those who attempt to access danger zones without using additional means and without observing the conditions specified for various types of access.

UNI EN 294
MINIMUM SPACES TO AVOID CRUSHING PARTS OF THE BODY

The aim of this standard is to enable those who use the machine to avoid danger due to areas in which crushing takes place. This standard specifies the minimum spaces for parts of the body and is applied when it is possible to achieve an adequate level of safety by adopting this method. This standard applies only to risks due to crushing and does not help in the case of other risks such as cutting or dragging.
