Control electronics running on extra-low voltage draw very little power, but the motors, magnetic clutches and hydraulic cylinders they command still need a lot of electrical energy. DOLD's latching, interface (coupling) and switching relays bridge that gap. They connect the sensitive logic side of a PLC, controller or process computer with the machine's power circuits, and they provide protective separation between the two.
DOLD positions these relays for interface tasks in demanding control systems. They plug into snap-on sockets on top-hat (DIN) rail, which keeps installation and maintenance quick. They are not sensitive to overcurrent or overloads, and at medium to low switching frequencies they cost considerably less than semiconductor solutions, which makes them a sensible default for many cabinet designs.
The UG 8851 latching relay accepts a wide AC/DC nominal voltage range. A pulse of a few milliseconds sets it to a defined contact position, and no energy is needed to hold it on, which lowers power dissipation. If supply is lost, the relay keeps its position. Its forcibly guided contacts to IEC 61810-3 allow the contact state to be monitored safely.
