SAFEMASTER STS safety switches, guard locking and key transfer system
SAFEMASTER STS is DOLD's modular interlocking system for movable guards on machines and plant. It covers safety switches, guard-locking solenoid interlocks, key transfer units and safety command devices, all electromechanical. The system is type-tested to the legal requirements and can be used on its own for safety functions up to Cat. 4 / PL e to EN ISO 13849-1, with no need for fault exclusion. Coding levels low, medium and high are available to DIN EN ISO 14119.
Type 2 safety switches with a separate actuator protect doors, hoods and flaps: opening the guard must stop hazardous movement at once and prevent a restart. Where the guard has to stay shut while danger persists, a solenoid interlock holds it until a release signal arrives, for example from the higher-level control, with emergency, escape and rope pull escape releases against being trapped inside. Key transfer pairs electrical monitoring of a busy main access with wiring-free mechanical locking of doors used less often.
Units are made in FRP or stainless steel, and both can be mixed in one installation. FRP versions are easy to handle, highly visible and used in automation, automotive and railway work; stainless steel suits harsh areas such as bulk materials, chemicals, food and pharmaceuticals, extreme temperatures, moisture and dirt. Command devices, actuators, a load isolator with interlock and individual modules round out the range, and STS can work with DOLD relays for standstill, speed or emergency stop functions.
