Printed circuit board relay, bistable
A bistable relay has two stable contact positions and stays in whichever one it was last set to, even with no supply present, so the switching state survives a power failure. A monostable relay needs its coil energised to hold; a bistable type only needs a pulse lasting a few milliseconds to move the contacts into a defined position, after which the contact is latched mechanically. Power demand and coil heating stay low, and this design also copes well with vibration and shock.
This category holds two DOLD models intended for switching sockets: OB 5693, a horizontal model, and OB 5694, a vertical model. Both are specified to DIN EN 61810-1 and IEC/EN 60669-1, with switching reliability to IEC/EN 60669-2-2 and safe separation to IEC/EN 61140 and IEC/EN 60335. They are designed for impulse operation, and if a fault keeps the coil energised, 100 % ED is permissible. OB 5694 also accepts the ET 1415 sockets and function modules listed under standard PCB relays.
