DOLD light curtain controllers for AOPD light barriers and light grids

When a person or object comes near a hazardous area, DOLD light barrier switching devices use contactless protective devices (AOPD) to stop the dangerous movement and put the machine into a safe state. They are meant for workstations where operators have to reach into a machine regularly as part of the process, such as loading and unloading parts at presses. Replacing mechanical guards with light curtains keeps the safety level intact while allowing shorter cycle times and higher throughput.

Three controllers are listed, all rated Cat. 4 / PL e and SIL 3. The UG 6980/800 is a 22.5 mm two-channel safety module with forcibly guided contacts, manual or automatic restart and optional cross fault monitoring. The LG 5925/900, also 22.5 mm, works with light curtains that have symmetric or asymmetric outputs, selected by switch S1, runs single- or two-channel and offers up to 4 NO contacts. The 45 mm BH 5902 adds selectable operating modes, two short-circuit-protected semiconductor outputs, under- and overvoltage detection and a reaction time of max. 30 ms, and carries TÜV and UL approvals.
